Doug Roland. His film, “Feeling Through,” was inspired by his chance encounter with a deaf-blind man on the streets of Manhattan. It is a “..coming of age story about the connection between a teen without a home and a DeafBlind man..” The film is the first ever to cast a deaf-blind person. In addition to this creative work, Doug is creating a documentary that will be about the making of the film and will feature the work of the Helen Keller National Center. Screenings of both films will be held across the country and will not only raise awareness of the mission of Helen Keller National Center but will change perspectives and understanding among the public about the lives of people who are deaf-blind.
